Christian Campsite Blesses Community Amid COVID Closures

Thursday, June 4th, 2020

The sound of silence fills the expansive grounds of the Crusaders campsite in Lake Macquarie in the New South Wales Hunter region.

In the kitchen though, there is a hive of activity, with chefs and hospitality staff working overtime.

Head Chef Rachel Billington has told Eternity News, after being forced to close to customers temporarily because of COVID-19, they decided to do something to give back to the community.

Campsite manager Brett Taylor worked alongside Rachel to come up with the idea of the “CRU Food 2 U” meal delivery service.

Rachel then contacted Bible Society Australia, who not only provided literature, but also donated $10,000 towards the distribution costs.

Local churches have also come on board to help distribute around 1,500 meals to more than 300 homes.
