An American Christian florist has agreed to pay around $7,000 to end an 8-year legal battle over her refusal to provide floral arrangements for a same-sex wedding.

The client sued Barronelle Stutzman for a violation of Washington state discrimination laws.

She lost appeals to lower courts and the State Supreme Court, while the US Supreme Court declined to hear the case.

The Christian Post reports Ms Stutzman won’t pursue the case

That means she’ll avoid crippling fines and legal fees.

The 77-year-old will also retire and let her employees buy the flower shop in the regional city of Richlands.

Ms Stutzman says she’s never had to compromise her conscience, or go against her faith.

Her lawyers from the ‘Alliance Defending Freedom’ say the settlement should not be seen as a surrender of her beliefs.
