As the world marks Global Handwashing Day today, a Christian organisation has been doing its part to improve hygiene throughout Asia.
In many of the world’s poorest countries, daily hygiene practices such as washing of hands with soap before food preparation are rarely taught.
According to UNICEF, the lack of handwashing amongst communities, has greatly contributed to the spread of deadly illness in young children.
Christian Newswire reports that the theme of Global Handwashing Day, will be “Clean Hands For All”, promoting the vital importance of proper handwashing with soap.
Gospel For Asia says each year, more than 1.5 million children under the age of five from chronic diarrhoea.
GFA national workers stage “hands-on” demonstrations events at churches and other communities throughout Asia to promote proper handwashing.
They see these demonstrations as an expression of God’s love.
