A complaint has been withdrawn against a Queensland mum who shared an online petition against a drag queen storytime event.
Katrina Tait highlighted the petition from the Australian Christian Lobby on Facebook which called for the event at a Brisbane library in January to be cancelled.
Her post caught the attention of detractors, with one man from NSW lodging an official complaint with the state’s Anti Discrimination Board.
However the complainant has now withdrawn his opposition, though no reason has been given for the decision.
Eternity News reports that the retraction has been welcomed by the ACL’s NSW Director Kieren Jackson – saying that the issue should never have reached that point, and that vilification claims shouldn’t be used to silence reasonable opinions.
High profile politician Mark Latham echoed similar sentiments.
