An alcohol- and drug-affected driver who killed four children on a footpath in Sydney’s west will spend at least 21 years behind bars.
Samuel William Davidson reached speeds of 133 kilometres an hour in Oatlands before crashing into a group of seven children in February 2020.
Three siblings – Antony (13), Angelina (12), and Sienna Abdallah (9) – and their cousin, Veronique Sakr (11), died at the scene.
The ABC reports, three other children were injured in the crash; one of them sustained a permanent brain injury.
When handing down the 28-year sentence, Judge James Bennett told the court, Davidson’s “manner of driving was such that a tragedy was inevitable”.
The 30-year-old will be eligible for parole in 2041.
