Drop in Reliance on JobKeeper: ATO

Man counting Australia money

The number of people relying on the JobKeeper payment has dropped 56 per cent, as the federal government prepares to stop the program.

The Australian Tax Office has released figures showing that businesses in every state and territory are graduating from the wage subsidy.

New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia are among the best-performing jurisdictions.

Victoria’s situation has improved but it’s still lagging behind other states and territories.

The data shows all industries, especially retail, education, and construction, are no longer relying as much on the wage subsidy.

Just over 1.5 million workers are receiving the payment, compared with 3.6 million in September.

JobKeeper will finish at the end of March.
