A radical Greens plan to legalise marijuana has been slammed by medical experts
The Greens will today unveil their proposal – which will allow cannabis smokers to grow six plants in their backyards and buy cannabis in approved retail stores.
But Australian Medical Association vice president Doctor Tony Bartone has told Fairfax Media – that the move will increase crime and put the mental health of young Australians at risk.
Greens leader Richard Di Natale says Australia should legalise marijuana, following the lead of several big U-S states, Spain and Canada.
Senator Di Natale believes his party’s proposal would not result in the widespread sale and use of cannabis as there would be strict regulations on sale and production.
He says seven million Australians regularly use cannabis, and all they’re doing is feeding the mega profits of criminal syndicates and criminal gangs.
