A pastor who’s studied more than a thousand near-death experiences involving an encounter with God, Jesus or Heaven believes they are essentially a “new apologetic” and a “gift from God”.
John Burke has written a best-selling book on the subject called ‘Imagine Heaven’.
He explains that these experiences are becoming more common in an age when modern medical resuscitation helps people come back from the brink of death.
He says that those who go through near-death experiences often find themselves struggling to explain something that is “truly beyond our four dimensions of time and space.”
Faithwire quotes him as saying: “They have to interpret their experience, and they always do so in their own worldview”.
Pastor Burke has found that scientific studies back up his conclusion that the commonalities in such experiences are “pointing to the God of the Bible and no one else.”
