Anglican churches have ralied to feed and clothe hundreds of Afghan refugees who have arrived in Melbourne.

Many of the refugees ran to Kabul airport, then spent 8 days travelling in the same clothes, before arriving in hotel quarantine.

The Melbourne Anglican NewsStand reports donors have been so generous that coordinators have put a  pause on accepting some items.

However, children’s clothes, socks, prams and strollers, are still high-priority items.

Facilitator Naomi Chua says most of the refugees arrived with just the light summer clothes in which they fled the country.

Financial donations are also being converted into Aldi vouchers for families, who do not yet have access to Centrelink payments.
