Hillsong has joined the list of churches and Christian ministries that have made significant contributions to the relief effort for Australia’s bushfires.

The Christian Post reports, Hillsong has announced it’s raised more than $1 million for the cause.

Hillsong senior pastor Brian Houston says on his Instagram page that the money is being used to support firefighters, food banks, and others assisting on the ground.

The church raised funds at a men’s event in November to send to the Salvation Army and volunteer fire brigades and has dispatched aid and teams through various ministries.

Hillsong has called on all believers to continue to pray for the nation, its leaders, firefighters and communities affected, and for rain that will end the drought.

It says the outpouring of love, care and generosity from people both here and overseas has been staggering and humbling.
