Hindu Nationalists Campaign Against “Forcible” Religious Conversions

Tuesday, March 31st, 2020

The chief of a Hindu nationalist group has launched a nationwide campaign against what he says are forcible conversions to Christianity.

The Christian Post reports, the General Secretary of the World Hindu Council, Milind Parande, claims Hindus in India are being forced to convert to Christianity and Islam.

Mr Parande says Christian missionaries are destroying the ancient culture and indigenous religion of the tribals.

He also says Hindu girls are being lured to marry Muslims, with at least 2,000 brought home every year who’ve been converted via marriage.

Several Indian states have anti-conversion laws but no Christian has been convicted of forcibly converting anyone to Christianity.

Persecution watchdog International Christian Concern says the claim of mass forced conversions to Christianity doesn’t hold up, with the most recent data indicating Christians still only make up 2.3 per cent of the population, a percentage which hasn’t changed for 60 years.
