The pandemic is threatening to take a heavy toll on US churches.

The nation’s leading researcher on religion, The Barna Group, found that nearly 40% of pastors are seriously considering quitting the ministry.

Half of those surveyed said they would leave immediately if they had another way of making a living.

Around 20,000 pastors left in 2020 as more than 4,000 churches closed and a third of practicing Christians just didn’t turn up.

Pastor and Counsellor Dr Dwayne Bond says pastors have been experiencing an overwhelming sense of responsibility and loneliness.

He told CBN News that with so many opinions on covid and vaccines to consider, church leaders were becoming exhausted and disunited.

But Dr Bond says the Kingdom of God is still being advanced, and churches are still being planted and disciples still being made.
