‘The Tower of David’ Museum in Jerusalem’s Old City is undergoing a major facelift.

Construction has started on a new entry-pavilion and welcome-centre, while tourist numbers remain low because of covid restrictions.

Museum Director Eilat Liber told CBN News, it’s the only museum in the world that tells the full story of Jerusalem.

The operators want it to be the first place tourists visit as it will introduce them to thousands of years of history.

They say it’s about revealing the ‘core’ of Jerusalem and helping people engage with the Holy City.

The landmark citadel will function as the entry pavilion.

Engineers need to preserve the original structure while digging up to 8 metres deep.

Architects will strive to blend the modern into a landscape of archaeology.

The project is due to take a year.
