Job Seekers Demerit System “Too Tough”

Welfare groups are calling for a review of the federal government’s new demerit system for job seekers.

The new framework puts pressure on job seekers who deliberately and repeatedly fail to show up for appointments.

The government argues the changes make it tougher for job seekers to flout the system.

BUT The Australian Council of Social Service’s Charmaine Crowe says the previous system was already tough.
