US President Joe Biden has issued an order targeting homemade firearms, known as “ghost guns”, which are unregistered and untraceable.
It’s part of a set of executive orders aiming to stamp out gun violence, which Mr Biden has labelled “an epidemic” and “an international embarrassment”.
Mr Biden is calling on the Senate to pass two gun background check bills passed by the House last month.
He also want to make it easier for people to petition courts to remove firearms from family members who are deemed a threat.
Among the other plans is the regulation of pistol braces, which make it easier to shoot more people, more accurately.
It’s alleged that such a device was used by the man accused of fatally shooting 10 people in a Colorado supermarket last month.
Mr Biden says enough is enough, saying 106 people die from gun violence in the US every day.
The executive actions are likely to face legal action from gun rights advocates, who view any moves to limit access to firearms as a violation of the Second Amendment.
