Newcastle wants to make it a memorable week for Mitchell Pearce who will play his 300th game this weekend.
The halfback becomes the 42nd NRL player to reach the milestone.
Knights coach Adam O’Brien says his side wants to celebrate with a win over the West Tigers.
“It’s exactly that – a huge milestone,” he says.
“It’s important that we get the week right… the number one job is [to] put in a good performance on the weekend for him.”
Pearce believes Sunday’s big game will be an emotional affair for him, but at the age of 31 he insists he has plenty of football still left in him.
“I feel really good at the moment body-wise and coming off a shortened pre-season obviously with the COVID last year, as everyone has,” Pearce says.
“I still feel really fit; I’m as motivated as ever.”
