Melbourne’s Soggy Summer

Friday, December 8th, 2017

Melbourne has been dealt a drenching, as the city’s soggy start to summer continues.

The eastern suburbs bore the brunt of last night’s sudden downpour..

Rowville receiving up to 61 millimetres of rain; as much as 47 mills fell at Doncaster; Springvale received 45 mills.

Rod Dixon from the Weather Bureau says despite the rain over the past week, it’s not necessarily a sign of things to come.

He admits it’s been a cool, wet start to summer after a prolonged early period of heat through late November.

He says we have moved into a weak La Nina, which increases the chances of above-average rainfall.
