The National Prayer Breakfast is happening today in Canberra.
Many will descend on Parliament House to pray for our politicians and listen to a keynote address from Governor-General David Hurley.
Senator Amanda Stoker has told our newsroom, even if you can’t make it to the event, you can play an important role.
“Anything that [people] are prepared to do to support the work of the prime minister and his team – and indeed the opposition – in prayer is time really well spent, because all of the wisdom that can be summoned is needed to help prepare our country for the difficult challenges that present both at home and as we interact with the rest of the world,” she says.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison will also be in attendance to lead the prayers and launch a book detailing the history of prayer in parliament.
