The National Broadband Network will undergo a $4.5-billion upgrade, its biggest revamp in seven years.
Millions of Australians will be get access to ultra-fast internet as part of a major upgrade of the NBN, with $3.5 billion to be spent rolling out fibre directly to residential homes.
This will increase broadband speeds by up to 75 per cent within two years.
Another $1 billion will be used to improve services for business and the regions.
Labor argues the NBN has been a mess since the Coalition came to power.
The upgrade will create 25,000 jobs.
