New South Wales has defeated Queensland 26-20 to win the 2019 State of Origin series, in a thriller at Sydney Olympic Park.
In one of the most remarkable finishes to an Origin game in the concept’s history, man of the series James Tedesco crossed for his second try of the match, and a second series win in a row.
Holding a 20-8 lead with ten minutes remaining, the never-say-die attitude of Queensland came to the fore with Josh McGuire and Josh Papalii seemingly sending the game to golden point.
But it wasn’t to be for the Maroons, with winger Blake Ferguson tip-toeing down the sideline before passing infield to Tedesco, who sent 82,500 fans into raptures.
It’s the first time the blues have won back-to-back series since 2005.
