A Tokyo Olympic Games qualifier has told how she draws inspiration from the Bible.

High jumper, Nicola McDermott gained selection for the Games after becoming the first Australian woman to break the two-metre barrier during trials.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist says she has a tattoo on her wrist which is inspired by 1 John 4:18.

The verse says “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.”

Nicola says she chose the verse because she was always scared of the two metre jump.

She told Eternity News, she knew she could go a lot higher, but fear got to her.

Nicola also says, there was a turning point in her career when she was introduced to Jesus, and realised that no gold medal could bring lasting satisfaction to her heart.
