Operation Christmas Child

The coronavirus is not stopping Samaritan’s Purse from collecting and distributing Christmas gifts to children throughout the world.

President of Samaritan’s Purse Franklin Graham told One News Now, they are actually doing more than ever because of the pandemic.

This year, Samaritan’s Purse anticipates sending 11 million boxes to 130 countries.

The Operation Christmas Child ministry began 27 years ago during the war in Bosnia.

They collected and distributed gifts to children in refugee camps to let them know that they were loved and not forgotten.

Mr Graham says as a result of that, they realised there was a great worldwide need, so they turned it into a worldwide outreach.

Every box has literature explaining the Gospel, and people who pack boxes are asked to pray for the child who receives the box.
