Pandemic Sees Church Growth in South Asia

Saturday, April 17th, 2021

The pandemic lockdown has seen church growth in South Asia.

The Global Disciples organisation partners with a large Christian church in a metropolitan area, that transformed into 97 house fellowships during the restriction period.

A spokesperson – who can’t be named for security reasons – has told Mission Network News this provided a powerful witness to neighbours that has transformed many of them.

The neighbours, most of them Hindus, would hear the Christians singing and praising God and asked how people could be so joyful in the middle of a pandemic.

The Christians explained how Christ was the source of their hope and joy and invited their neighbours to join them.

When the restrictions lifted, many of these house churches had Hindu families who had come to faith in Christ.

The church has now started two new church plants of about 50 people.
