A revival event that was held in the US state of Alabama, has led to an outbreak of coronavirus.

Many churchgoers began exhibiting symptoms of the illness after services were held at a Baptist Church in Alabama.

The event was immediately shut down when it was confirmed that an attendee had tested positive for Covid-19.

Since then, the spread has continued with 40 other people now confirmed cases, including the church pastor Daryl Ross.

None of the infected people have been hospitalised, with only two deemed to be serious cases.

Pastor Ross told Premier News that although social distancing measures were in place, facemasks were not worn, and attendees were free to shake hands if they wished

He also admitted that he “knew what they were getting into” by holding the revival, despite Alabama continuing to see high rates of infection.
