Alex de Minaur’s year is off to a flying start after claiming his fourth ATP singles title, with a victory at the Antalya Tennis Open.
De Minaur won the final 2-0 with his eighth seed opponent Alexander Bublik having to retire seven minutes into the match due to an ankle injury.
21-year-old de Minaur says his attention now turns to the Australian Open.
“I’m very happy with my level, I had some quality wins, and look, I’m looking forward to Australia. I mean, it was a bittersweet moment last year, so hopefully I can – you know – a year later come back stronger”, said de Minaur.
Meantime, Bernard Tomic is the only Australian to successfully navigate the Australian Open qualifiers in Doha.
He’s secured a place in the main draw after defeating fellow Aussie John Patrick Smith 6-4 5-7 7-6.
