Churches in Tasmania are encouraging Christians across the state to join in a Praise Prayer Relay.
The event has been organised in opposition to the annual Dark Mofo winter festival to be held this month.
The Dark Mofo aims to draw visitors to Hobart during the bleak winter months and is known for blasphemous content including animal sacrifice.
Organisers say they want to explore the darkness.
The Praise Prayer Relay team, with the theme “The Light has come,” is asking pray-ers to commit to a half hour time slot either daily, weekly or just a one-off up until June 25
The event is spear headed by the Tasmanian arm of the Australian Prayer Network.
Christian everywhere are invited to join in praying that all Tasmanians will hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to come out of the darkness into His marvellous light.
