Two world records have fallen at an athletics event in Spain.
The Olympic Channel reports, the NN Valencia World Record Day is a one-off day dedicated to breaking the 10,000-metre world record.
Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei outdid a 15-year-old world record in the men’s 10,000 metres.
The 24-year-old shaved six seconds off the previous best to clock 26 minutes and 11 seconds.
The previous record of 26:17.53 was set by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele in Brussels in August 2005.
The Valencia event also saw a new world record set in the women’s 5,000 metres.
Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey took five seconds off the 2008 record set by compatriot Tirunesh Dibaba, to post the new fastest time of 14:06.02.
