A global goal to eradicate hunger by 2030 is now looking like mission impossible.

An estimated 800 million people were reported to be not getting sufficient daily food prior to the pandemic.

That was was increasing by around 10 million per year.

Ben Evans from Christian charity ‘Feed The Hungry’ told Vision Radio that number’s just soared.

He says that in the two years of covid, that annual increase has risen exponentially to around 160 million per year.

More and more people are simply too poor to be able to buy food.

They also lack the resources to grow their own food, such as arable land and the means to harvest, process, and store food.

Aid organisations are calling for an international plan and commitment to tackle the crisis.

‘Feed The Hungry’ has been delivering food for 30 years.

It gives 300,000 children in 20 countries a hot and nutritious meal every day.

Thousands more providers need to follow that example to raise any hope of eradicating the hunger now suffered by more than a billion people.
