Worship Music Must Highlight God’s Holiness: Redman

Monday, February 15th, 2021

Matt Redman, acclaimed worship songwriter, says church music may be in danger of overlooking an important part of God’s character.

He says one aspect missing in much congregational worship today is the holiness of God.

He told Premier News, without holiness in the mix, there’s a question of whether we can even call it ‘worship’.

Mr Redman says singing of grace, freedom, healing, joy, and God as father and friend, are important parts of devotion.

But he says they can never be the whole picture – the holiness of God must always be kept in view.

True worship is a life that prioritises the worth of God above, and then demonstrates that worth through our thoughts, words, and actions.

The glory of Christian worship is found in this mystery – that holy God calls us to know Him deeply and to draw near to Him.
