Sunday November 1 is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, with Christians around the world being asked to set aside time to pray for their fellow believers who are suffering persecution for their faith.

Tens of thousands of Christians around the globe die for their faith each year.

Melissa Hill from Voice of the Martyrs has told Vision Radio, the statistics are astonishing.

“It is true that Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world, and more men and women are being persecuted today for their faith in Christ than at any other time in history,” Ms Hill says.

“It’s our responsibility, I think, as Christians in Australia to know that.”

Voice of the Martyrs say the most common request from persecuted Christians is for prayer.
