Gawler – 87.6 FM

Vision’s radio station in Gawler, South Australia, went to air at 87.6 FM on the 4th of December, 2023. This is Vision’s 75th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 814th station overall.

Discover Gawler

Gawler has a population of 24,988 and is located 42 km north of Adelaide. It is a short drive from the Barossa and Clare Valleys, Adelaide Hills, Murraylands and Riverland regions. Established on 31 January 1839, it was named after Lieutenant-Colonel George Gawler and is the oldest inland town in South Australia. The Kaurna Aborigines were the original inhabitants.

Things to enjoy in Gawler include a visit to the Old Telegraph Station Museum, the McKinlay Memorial, and the Pioneer Park and War Memorial on Murray Street.

The Bunyip newspaper building, established in 1863 and where its first publication on 5 September 1863 was the subject of a libel action.

Essex House Fashion Centre was constructed by Alfred Sheard in 1905, later expanded in 1928 and purchased in 1930 by H.B. Crosby. Since the 1880s, Essex House has been known for drapery, general merchandise and fashion, and the Flying Fox payment system. There is also a Church Hill Walking Tour, and the E.H. Coombe Walking Tour. Ephraim Henry (EH) Coombe was a businessman and journalist, serving as the editor of The Bunyip. Additionally, he held the position of Member of Parliament, representing the Barossa District.
