Griffith – 88.0 FM

Vision’s radio station in Griffith, New South Wales, went to air on the?6th of June 2024. This is Vision’s 87th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 826th station overall.

Discover Griffith

Griffith has a population of 27,086 and is located 574 km west of Sydney via the Hume Freeway and Burley Griffin Way. It’s known as ‘a little piece of Italy’ in the Riverina, and a ‘foodies’ paradise, especially if you love Italian food and culture. While Griffith is well known for it’s oranges, all sorts of produce thrives in its rich soil.

Walter Burley Griffith, famously known as the architect who designed Canberra also designed Griffith as part of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Scheme. The city became a magnet for European migrants, who settled in the region after World Wars I and II, the majority being Italian.

There’s plenty to explore, from the irrigation scheme, wineries, to the interesting heritage of Griffith at the Griffith Italian Museum?or the Pioneer Park Museum, which spans more than 40 historic buildings and details important aspects of the town’s history.

Art lovers will appreciate the Griffith Regional Art Gallery’s?impressive collection of art.

For those who love to explore the outdoors, Hermit’s Cave and Scenic Lookout is a must. The cave was once the home of Valerio Ricetti, a miner from Broken Hill who lived the life of a hermit. A keen gardener, Valerio transformed the rocky escarpment and created dry-stone walls, paths and stone steps creating access to areas that he called, the Garden, the Chapel and the Main Cave.

You might want to plan your trip in the spring so you can experience the Griffith Multicultural Festival, which is part of the annual?Griffith Spring Fest?in October. You’ll get to see amazing citrus sculptures and beautiful gardens in full bloom.
