The Billy Graham MCG story is one of powerful redemption. In 1959, a teenager came to the crusade intending to kill Billy Graham. But God had other plans.
The Story host Eric Scatterbo joined us during Visionathon this morning, to share this remarkable testimony. “A 17-year-old boy went to the MCG that day with a homemade zip gun,” Eric said. “He was waiting for the altar call. But God started speaking to him. First, ‘Why are all these people here?’ Then, ‘Why are you here?’ Right there, he laid down his weapon and gave his life to Jesus.”
That Moment Changed Everything
The young man went on to serve in the Salvation Army for over 30 years alongside his wife. For decades, they told no one. Only recently did he feel God release him to share the Billy Graham MCG story. Since then, the Billy Graham Association sent a film crew to record it.
Eric shared a memorable moment from the interview. “We lost the phone line, but he didn’t realise. He just kept talking for half an hour, telling his story. It was that good.”
Lives Are Still Being Changed
During the conversation, Eric reflected on the lasting legacy of that crusade. Billy Graham preached to 150,000 people at the MCG.
“Every day through Vision, people are having their moment with God. That is what you’re supporting when you give.”
