In Australia, an exciting initiative is underway to distribute hundreds of thousands of copies of the Gospel of Luke. This effort is being led by Answers in Genesis, with the goal of putting a Gospel in every home across the country. Hannah Moriarty is coordinating the project, and she recently joined us on 20Twenty to highlight the importance of getting the community involved.
Hannah is inviting everyday Australians to volunteer with the Answers Army, a movement aimed at sharing half a million copies of the Gospel of Luke to bring hope to people in challenging cultural times.
‘We’re also developing some really key distribution software,’ says Hannah. ‘That will help our volunteers select their neighbourhoods. They’ll receive maps and see where they can begin to letterbox drop those Gospels. And it will also help us to gather testimonies following the distribution about people’s experiences.’
The Life Saving Message of Jesus
The project is set to start handing out these Gospels in mid to late November 2024, and preparations are well and truly underway. The Gospels will be in a new reader-friendly version called the Legacy Standard Bible. This version is made especially for people who haven’t read the Bible before. It takes away the chapter and verse numbers to make the text flow like a story, making it easier to read. The physical copies will have a beautiful cover to spark interest, so people won’t think of it as junk mail.
‘Everyday Australians can feel quite disheartened at the state of affairs, can’t we?’ says Hannah. ‘But as Christians, we know that the answer is the hope of Christ found in His word. If we want to see culture change, we need to give people the life saving message of Jesus.’
Thanks to a partnership with 316 Publishing, the Gospels are beautifully printed with eye-catching covers, featuring designs like mountains and the cross of Bethlehem. They’re designed to appeal to both newcomers to the Bible and those familiar with scripture. Hannah also believes the attractive design is key to drawing people in and engaging them with the message.
Share Christ’s Message Effectively
Besides providing the Gospels, the initiative will also help people learn more about Christianity. Each Gospel comes with a QR code that links to a webpage with a brief salvation message, The Word For Today daily devotional, and a form to submit questions. Hannah also points out the importance of prayer as the team prepares for the distribution, with various groups praying for a positive impact.
‘We have the option for people to join us as prayer partners,’ says Hannah. ‘Which is so key in a project like this. And we have some very passionate prayers and a prayer group who are meeting regularly to pray.’
Churches and individuals who want to help can sign up on the Answers in Genesis website. They can volunteer, take online training sessions, and also donate money to help cover distribution costs. Supporters can clearly see how they can be part of this important project. The training will be led by experienced evangelist Stu Miller, who will help volunteers share Christ’s message effectively in their communities.

‘As people give generously to this project,’ says Hannah, ‘it just allows us to get more Gospels into homes. It costs about $1.50 per gospel. Even with our first first initiative, we’re looking at half a million homes, and those dollars do add up. But we’re grateful for any support, volunteering, prayer and of course financial investment.’
Hannah believes the Gospel can play a significant role in changing society. But it relies on the commitment of many caring people to help spread it across the nation.
