Believing in Your Potential with Pastor Andrew McLennan

by | Apr 7, 2025

On this episode of Faith Boost, Pastor Andrew McLennan shares an important message: God can use anyone who is willing.

On this episode of Faith Boost, Pastor Andrew McLennan shares an important message: God can use anyone who is willing, no matter how they see themselves. He can guide people into roles or tasks they may feel totally unprepared for.

In 1 Samuel 16, God tells Samuel not to judge people by how they look on the outside. Samuel thinks that the oldest son of Jesse, who seems strong and confident, is the one God has chosen. But God makes it clear that He cares more about what’s in a person’s heart. Eventually, God chooses David, the youngest son, to be the future king.

“There’s some interesting truth here that is relevant to all of us,” says Andrew. “God can use you to do what He wants to do. Even if you don’t feel like you’re the one. Even though you may not feel like you’re able to do it, God can lead you into areas that you’ve never been before.”

Andrew believes that God encourages people to step out of their comfort zones, whether it’s talking in front of others or starting a new business. Many heroes in the Bible were surprising choices for big tasks.

God Can use Anyone Who is willing

For example, Moses was asked by God to confront Pharaoh even though he doubted himself and had trouble speaking. Jeremiah felt he was too young when God called him. But whether it’s fear, inexperience, age, or appearance, God doesn’t see our limits.

“The things that we create as barriers to ourselves being used by God,” says Andrew, “God just dismisses them. He doesn’t care about our fears. God can use you and I if we have a willing heart.”

Despite his humble start, David went on to lead Israel powerfully. God can work through anyone who is open to His calling. Andrew encourages everyone to have a personal relationship with God and to recognise their own potential, no matter how unlikely it seems.

“What can God do through you?” says Andrew. “Have a willing heart, an obedient heart, and let the Lord use you.”
