In a world of fake news and misinformation people are yearning for truth and messages with Biblical content that inspire and encourage.
Sherinne from Freeling in South Australia recalls receiving an email looking for somewhere to put up a radio station aerial. Thinking it was a scam, she ignored it until one sleepless night during a visit to Western Australia she was turning the radio dial searching for a station and came across a familiar Christian song. She listened to the next few Christian songs and then heard the announcer mention Vision Radio. That’s when she realised that the email she received was from Vision.
A Vision radio station was eventually installed in Freeling in 2011, and Sherrine has been listening to it ever since.
‘Anyone I see, I get the chance to promote Vision Radio because I love it,’ said Sherrine. ‘I put it on first thing in the morning when I wake up. I love listening to Fel and DJ. Everything I hear on Vision is Biblically based, be it the people who come on as guest speakers, or the announcers. I love the fact that you have a Bible verse after the news. It’s just constant feeding, which is what we all need, and I wish that more people in the world could get it because it’s just what the world needs.’
Sherinne nailed the reason Vision exists. A few years ago, Vision was reaching about 25% of Australia through the radio stations. Since installing the high-frequency station in Hobart and DAB+ digital radio in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Vision is now reaching around 63% of Australia with the Gospel.
There’s still a lot of Australia that can’t pick up Vision, unless it’s through the Vision app, so we want to install more stations.
‘It’s very exciting. I think people get really despondent,’ Sherrine said. ‘We’re getting smashed in the media all the time. Christians are in the parliament and it’s really nice to know that there’s actually a lot of people out there that are spreading a lot of good in God’s Word. We all have to jump on the bandwagon and join you.’
Sherrine has embraced the concept of advancing the Gospel together. There are agendas that are trying to sway people away from God. Vision’s mission is to spread the good news of the saving power of Jesus to transform people’s lives all across Australia.
