Regardless of someone’s faith, everyone at some point in their life will face difficult times and challenges. Helen Thredgold’s crisis came in 2019 when she went through three operations during that year. It was then discovered she had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that required five months of chemotherapy.
‘The operations were not connected with that, so it was a pretty difficult year,’ said Helen. ‘I came across Vision Radio, and it was a joy to hear it while I was in hospital. It was the end of the year at that time, and the carols were playing. How wonderful they were! I just loved it.’
Helen and her husband Harold are Vision Ambassadors based in Stranthalbyn in South Australia. They speak at churches about the resources and services Vision provides to encourage people to look to God daily—not just on a Sunday—and they help reach more souls for God’s Kingdom by distributing Vision resources around their community.
They are so passionate about helping to spread the Gospel to every Australian that they came from South Australia and volunteered their time during Visionathon to listen to people who called in to donate.
‘Being on the phone this morning, you hear a lot of interesting things about how people are helped so much by listening to Vision and how much it’s encouraged them and helped them get through difficult times in their life,’ said Harold.
Helen stated that the people she spoke to on the phone donated to Vision because they wanted Vision to be able to continue their mission to spread the Gospel to every corner of Australia. They were not necessarily rich but gave what they could.
‘A lot of them were desperate to see Vision keep going, but also because they have been going through difficult times themselves and have been encouraged by listening to Vision and reading The Word For Today as well. And they felt that they can give a little bit back to Vision by donating,’ said Helen.
‘My challenge would be keep giving because Vision Radio depends on gifts from people like you, so that all of Australia may come to hear the Gospel,’ said Harold.
It’s so powerful when we hear words at the right time. Vision supporters have told us that it has stopped them from taking their life in their darkest hour or like Helen has helped them through illness, or losing a loved one and going through the grief and lonliness that comes with that.
Your donation to Vision enables that to happen all across Australia as we reach out to people with words of life and hope and even the lyrics of the songs we play.
Now is a great time to make a tax-deductible donation by calling in on 1800 316 316, at vision.org.au or in the free Vision Christian Media app. You’ll be helping people look to God daily as we believe and work together.
