On this episode of Faith Boost, Pastor Andrew McLennan helps us uncover ancient truths that still resonate powerfully today. He reminds us that our destiny is divinely ordained, even when the world may doubt us. “Did you know that God chose you before the foundation of the world? And it doesn’t matter what people think about you, or what people have said about you. You need to be confident in the fact that God chose you.”
These words are a powerful reminder that our worth isn’t defined by external opinions but by God’s eternal choice. In a world that often values outward appearance and popularity, this truth calls us to lean on God’s vision for our lives. In 1 Samuel, we find a story that illustrates this principle for us.
God instructed Samuel with these words: Arise. You are going to anoint a king today. Samuel set out to find the next king for Israel, beginning with Jesse’s eldest son, who was a natural choice by human standards. Yet, God had a different plan. As Samuel observed the sons of Jesse, God challenged him. Do not look at his appearance or his physical stature.
Our destiny is divinely ordained
Instead of choosing the obvious candidate, God directed Samuel to a young, overlooked shepherd boy named David. This surprising choice reminds us that God sees beyond the surface. He looks at the heart. David, the shepherd boy, would go on to become one of Israel’s greatest kings.
You might not be the one others expect to succeed. You may aspire to a promotion, or feel called to a path that seems impossible to the world. History is filled with examples of visionaries who defied conventional expectations. People like Henry Ford, who envisioned cars for the common man, and Walt Disney, who dared to dream of a magical kingdom.
Their stories, like David’s, remind us that what seems improbable to others is often part of God’s greater plan for us. Just because people can’t see your potential doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Remember, God looks at your heart and the unique gifts He has given you. Ephesians 1:4 tells us, He chose you before the foundation of the world.
We can walk in the assurance that God’s choice is not based on what the world sees but on the greatness He sees within you. As you step into your destiny, know that you are meant for victory, just as David was, despite the doubts of others. “Find out what God’s choice is for your life and walk in that. That is your path to victory in life.”
