A new faith-based documentary explores the miraculous events surrounding the birth and death of Jesus. The film entitled God of Heaven and Earth presents scientific evidence of how the Three Wise Men followed the Star of Bethlehem and tracked it for more than 1,000 kilometres to find the baby Jesus.
Producer Elliott Wallach of Edify Films explained that the Three Wise Men had to feel like the whole universe was moved just for them as the star was hanging over Bethlehem. He told Christian Headlines the planets Jupiter and Venus would have to have been involved to create the brightest star ever seen.
His film investigates the events that culminated in Jupiter ‘stopping’ over Bethlehem. The film believes it was on December 25, 2 B.C. Biblical scholars cannot agree on a definitive date of Jesus’s birth. Some say it was earlier, others claim it was later.
Mr. Wallach asserted that he believes science and technology can affirm the reliability of Scripture and can be a powerful tool to draw sceptics into the church. “I want people to walk away going God’s Word is true. Even if it’s something so big and fantastic as the Bethlehem star, the Bible can handle the scrutiny. It’s one of the most important things I’ve ever done,” he proclaimed.
The producer admitted to Christian Headlines that he too was a sceptic in the past. “I wanted to know what was true; not because I was raised that way; not because it was comfortable; not because it’s something that was expected of me. I wanted it to be based on science and facts. So having a film like this for somebody else that might be seeking in the same way, it appeals to me more than anything I can say.”
There’s also compelling evidence in the film about Christ’s crucifixion, including the great earthquake mentioned in Matthew 27 that is believed to have taken place in 33 A.D. “The only other earthquake prior to that, it’s like 32 B.C. and another one like 320 A.D,” Mr Wallach said. “If you’re going to take the Bible at its word, you have only one earthquake to choose from.”
Christian Headlines reports the documentary is the first instalment in a Bible Cinema Roadshow which has a goal of bringing a Bible-themed film to theatres each month for the next year. It’s organised by Thinking Man Films which produces documentaries focused on the evidence available today about what happened in the Bible.
