Dr. Albert Mohler On The Mend After Health Emergency

by | Apr 25, 2023

Evangelical theologian Dr. Albert Mohler Jr. has thanked God for preserving him after a recent health emergency.

The president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and host of The Briefing podcast was rushed to hospital in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this month.

He was suffering from serious blood clots in both lungs which prevented him from breathing in what he openly admits was a “health crisis.”

He is now recovering at home, but it’s still unclear how his health will impact on his work schedule. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery.

“I will do my best to work back to my regular schedule, while following medical advice,” he said in a statement.

He has resumed The Briefing podcasts and some duties at the Seminary where he received an award in recognition of his 30th anniversary as president.

Dr. Mohler said the experience was “deeply humbling and results in profound gratitude.”

“God has been so gracious to me in preserving me and giving strength,” he added.

The theologian had previously suffered from blood clots in his lungs 16 years ago when he was only 47.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit then but recovered well.

Dr. Mohler has previously explained that doctors say he has a genetic factor that increases his likelihood of having dangerous clots.

He thanked his family, his staff, an “incredible” medical team and all his listeners and supporters who prayed for him.

He wrote in The Briefing: “It’s just a reminder, the fact that we are not alone. We stand in a giant web of dependency and all of that comes back to the faithfulness of God in giving this opportunity and so I want to be a good steward of that.”
