About

On this episode of Faith Boost, Pastor Andrew McLennan shares a powerful message about how God gives second chances, no matter what we’ve done. Andrew starts with the story of Samson, a man chosen by God with incredible potential. But Samson made mistakes, like trusting Delilah with his secret. She betrayed him for money, leading to his capture by the Philistines and a time of great suffering.

‘They didn’t just capture him,’ says Andrew. ‘They made sure to blind him. And what a picture of what can happen to us when we sin. Sin creates a blockage between us and God, and our spiritual vision can be taken. We might not be able to see things as clearly as we used to.’

Despite Samson’s failures, his story doesn’t end there. In his lowest moment, he cries out to God for help. Even after making serious mistakes, we can find redemption through sincere prayer and repentance. Samson’s prayer is heartfelt as he asks God to remember him and give him strength one last time.

God gives second chances

Samson stands between the pillars of the Philistine temple, ready to give everything, even his life. When he calls on God, he gains the strength to push the pillars down, defeating his enemies in a way that surpasses all his previous accomplishments. Sometimes our greatest victories can come later in life, especially when we ask for forgiveness and renew our faith.

‘This teaches us so much,’ says Andrew. ‘God is a God of forgiveness and second chances. Can I encourage you? Deal with your sin. Process it, repent of it, and confess it to God.’

Andrew reminds us that life can get better and our best days might still be ahead. He talks about Proverbs 24:16, which teaches that even if we fall, we can rise again. Andrew encourages us to keep moving forward, serve God, and not let our past mistakes define us.

‘Get back in the saddle,’ says Andrew, ‘and serve God in your generation.’
