On this episode of Enjoying Everyday Life, Joyce Meyer talks about how to use God’s power in our lives. She points out that everyone faces problems, but the Bible gives us the same power that brought Jesus back to life. But to access this power, we need to understand who we are in Christ. Joyce shares the story of David and Goliath to illustrate how facing challenges prepares us for bigger roles.
‘There’s a big difference in reading your Bible and studying the Word of God,’ says Joyce. ‘The Bible is a weapon against the enemy. It has the power to renew your mind, to change your life and to heal your brokenness. Everything we have is by the grace of God. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have a part to play.’
Joyce believes it’s important to use Bible verses when facing temptation, just as Jesus did when He answered the devil. She highlights that the devil often targets our identity, so we must remember that we are children of God. Even small compromises can have big consequences, and we should stand firm using the strength we have in Christ.
God’s Power in our lives
‘We have to understand that sometimes these trials and temptations come in cycles,’ says Joyce. ‘The devil is always watching for an opportunity. But we have to get smart enough to not keep giving him open doors.’
Joyce shares her concerns about the lack of success she sees in many Christians and emphasises that just reading the Bible isn’t enough. We need to really understand and follow it to see lasting change. Taking time to focus on one Bible verse can be more helpful than quickly reading many chapters.
Joyce warns us against the desire for instant blessings, believing that true change requires dedication to God’s teachings. We can overcome our challenges and allow God to change us to be more like Him.
‘It’s not head knowledge that changes our lives,’ says Joyce. ‘It’s a revelation of what’s in the Bible.’
