The Royal Queensland Show, better known as the Ekka, is one of Queensland’s largest and most loved annual events. It attracts an average of 400,000 visitors, and this year the show will run for 9 days from the 10th – 18th August.
Organised by the RNA and held at its original location, the Brisbane Showgrounds, the Ekka brings together the country and the city for a big celebration of agriculture, showcasing the best that Queensland has to offer.
Just as the Ekka highlights the best of the region and fosters a sense of unity, Vision Radio plays a crucial role in bridging the gap for those who may feel isolated in rural communities.
In the vast Bongeen area, spanning approximately 100 kilometres, many people work as farmers. It’s tough to stay connected when you’re working alone on a tractor for hours feeling distant from your church community. But Vision Radio is helping to bring these people together, offering them spiritual support and a sense of belonging.
Bringing together the Country and the City
Belinda from Bongeen Church of Christ shared that ten years ago, the church helped set up Vision radio on a silo and a local business’s roof. For many farmers, listening to uplifting music, encouraging words, and spiritual teaching while working long hours in the fields isn’t just comforting. It’s essential. It keeps them spiritually strong and connected to a larger community.
‘It helps a lot of believers feel connected to the rest of the church around Australia,’ says Belinda. ‘Vision radio doesn’t just fill the airwaves. It fills the hearts of its listeners with hope and encouragement.’ Belinda’s husband also likes to have it playing in his engineering workshop during the day.
Belinda’s story is a powerful reminder of how small acts of generosity can make a big difference. She encourages others to plant seeds of faith, even if it feels financially challenging. ‘Trust God, because it’s not about what you have. It’s about what He has,’ she says. ‘The church has found that the more we give out, the more He blesses us back.’
Supporting Vision means investing in people’s lives, helping them get spiritual support and stay connected.
