On this episode of Techwise, Brad Huddleston discusses the growing trend of maintaining a digital detox, a journey that many people are embarking on. His book, Digital Rehab: Learning to Live Again in the Real World, has inspired many to take up this challenge.
‘If you’ve been detoxing from your current digital lifestyle to create a new one,’ says Brad, ‘you’ve probably realised that without extraordinary strength, this will be nearly impossible to maintain.’
Brad beleives that beating digital addiction requires ongoing support and determination. It can feel almost impossible to stay away from digital distractions without that extra support. But there is encouragement from from the Bible for anyone feeling overwhelmed.
In Matthew 19:26, Jesus says, With man, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. While we may struggle, we can find help through our faith. In Isaiah 46:4, God also promises, I have made you and I will carry you. I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Maintaining a Digital Detox is Possible
God is always with us to support us in our challenges. Psalm 107:20 tells us, He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions. With God’s help, we can heal and find peace even in the most diffuclt cirmcumstances.
God’s grace invites us all to reach out to Jesus for help and support in freeing ourselves from digital addiction. Brad encourages everyone to stay focused on their goal and seek the freedom that faith can provide.
‘God’s grace is available,’ says Brad. ‘Will you reach out to Jesus and receive it? Stay the course. Freedom is within your reach.’
