About

As Christians, we are called to be lights in the world, shining the love and truth of Christ to those around us. One of the most effective ways we can do this is by mentoring others.

Growing in Faith

Mentoring is the process of coming alongside someone, sharing your wisdom and experience, and helping them grow in their faith and in their life. It is a biblical pattern that has been used by God throughout history to raise up leaders and mature believers.

In the Old Testament, we see Moses mentoring Joshua, Elijah mentoring Elisha, and Jethro mentoring Moses. In the New Testament, we see Jesus mentoring his disciples, Paul mentoring Timothy, and Barnabas mentoring John. Clearly, mentoring was a key part of the early church’s growth and success.

Sharing Wisdom

But why is mentoring so important? First, it provides a way for believers to pass on their knowledge and experience to younger generations. This is crucial for ensuring that the faith is handed down from generation to generation and that we don’t lose the valuable lessons of the past.

Secondly, mentoring provides a personal connection that cannot be achieved through preaching or teaching alone. It allows the mentor to give individual attention to the mentee, tailoring their advice and guidance to their specific needs and struggles.

Building Relationships

Thirdly, mentoring is a way to invest in the lives of others and build meaningful relationships. By taking the time to invest in someone else, you are showing them that they are valued and loved.

Mentoring is also a way to fulfill the Great Commission. As Christians, we are called to make disciples of all nations, and mentoring is a powerful way to do that. By walking alongside someone and helping them grow in their faith, you are directly fulfilling Christ’s commandment to make disciples.

By investing in others, we can make a lasting impact on the world around us.

Is there someone in your life that God is calling you to mentor?
