Vision’s radio station in Cleve, South Australia, went to air on the 27th of June 2024. This is Vision’s 89th radio station out of the 100 stations 2021-2023 project and the 828th station overall.
Cleve has a population of 953 and is located 529 km west of Adelaide via Port Augusta and the Princess and Eyre Highways in a sheep and wheat growing area.
Cleve was named after Cleve House, the country seat of the Snow family who were cousins of Governor Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois who from 1877 to 1883 was Governor of South Australia.
For the history buffs, the Agricultural and Folk Museum housed in Cleve’s old Council Chambers is worth a visit. On display are collections of early pioneering artefacts from household articles, agricultural machinery, and photographs. Tractors, stationary engines and an iron lung donated by the Cleve and District Hospital used during the polio epidemic of the 1930s are displayed in a shed.
Arno Bay is ideal for swimming, windsurfing and sailing. It was known as Salt Creek Cove in the early 1880s and was the seaport for the early settlers of Cleve and surrounding inland areas. The jetty was originally built in 1882 and extended by 150 metres in 1905 to cater for larger vessels. In 1912, it was extended again and spanned 370 metres. The town was renamed Arno Bay in 1940 and once the port stopped operating on a commercial basis, the jetty was shortened in 1971 to 210 metres. It is now used for recreational purposes.
For those who love to hike, the Carappee Hill Hiking Trail is located in the Carappee Hill Conservation Park at Darke Peak. Access to the trail is on Carappee Hill Road. The hike is approximately 4km return with a steep incline. Carappee Hill is the most extensive exposed granite and the highest point on the Eyre Peninsula. When you reach the top, there’s a box with a visitors book inside for you to leave your mark.
Enjoy the best views of over 850 hectares of native bushland and spectacular scenery of the upper Eyre Peninsula.
So, whether you’re a local or visiting, you can now tune in to 88.0 FM and be blessed by God’s Word being spread through Vision Radio and the supporters who made it possible. It might just change your life!

The cost of establishing a new transmission site depends on the output power and unique site requirements.
Low power licences (ideal in a small country town, for example) typically cost less than $10,000 to establish. This includes the satellite receiving and FM retransmission equipment, the cost of the licence itself, basic local marketing, and program supply via satellite for the first year.
High-power licences and transmission sites are more expensive (but they do have much greater reach).
