The Bible tells us that everything we have, including our resources talents and abilities are given to us by God. If we are using our resources to build a name for ourselves, or to get more and more wealthy, it becomes idolatry.
In his latest message, Whose Kingdom Are You Really Building?, Pastor Jeff Vines challenges us to number ourselves and count ourselves as people of God. He reminds us not to assimilate, but instead be a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. We need to know our identity in Christ.
‘You’re either trying to make a name for God and build His kingdom, or you’re trying to make a name for yourself and build your own kingdom. You cannot fill an eternal void by temporary means. In Babylon, you’re religious, but you use religion to get what you truly want.’
‘But in Jerusalem, you pursue God because you know that Christ is the only thing big enough to fill the void in your heart.’
