About

An American evangelism ministry says it received more than 60,000 decisions for Christ during recent crusades in Africa.

World Harvest Global founder Jacob Ebersole said the most amazing experience was in the Muslim-majority West African nation of Guinea Bissau. He said he and his team came under intense spiritual attack in the most difficult campaign he had ever undertaken, but God opened doors.

He told The Christian Post that just as his team looked like losing their permits, they were called to a meeting with the country’s Muslim president who intervened to make the event happen and he even turned up at the first event in the capital Bissau.

“There was joy in the city. And I don’t think they had seen that before. It wasn’t like it was this aggressive, ‘we’re punching you in the face with Jesus’ thing. It was joy in the streets, and it was young people, and I was in tears just watching them do this week after week,” the evangelist proclaimed.

The crusade then went to Gabu, a smaller city described by Mr. Ebersole as “a Muslim stronghold” and the “most dangerous, dark territory in the nation.” Hundreds of young believers went with the team, engaging in impromptu worship and evangelism which he described as “a God thing” that “had nothing to do with us,” but rather was a matter of “just faith and guts.”

He said nearly 18,500 people came to Christ during the two crusades.

World Harvest held similar crusades in the mostly Christian nations of Zambia and Peru which were also a huge success.

“The Church is on fire in Zambia,” Mr. Ebersole told The Christian Post, adding that “it was a lot easier” to organise the event with “the biggest crowd I’d ever preached in front of. I saw maybe thousands of young people coming forward and laying down their idols, addictions, booze, witchcraft, magic arts. Zambia changed my life.” 45,000 Zambians made decisions for Christ.

In Peru, the size of the crowd doubled night after night, but the evangelist admitted he still didn’t know the secret to attracting thousands of people to wait for hours to hear the Gospel.

His ministry is now planning its first US crusade in South Carolina. Mr. Ebersole said: “In Jesus’ name we’re going to see a move of God start there that will spread through the whole state of South Carolina. What happens beyond that, I’ll leave up to the Lord.”  He hopes the event next year will “reach the whole nation” through the ministry’s social media strategy.
