We’ve just come through an election, and many of us might be noticing in our newsfeed or family group chat that things are getting pretty heated. Politics has a way of stirring up big opinions and strong emotions. And suddenly, people who normally get along are butting heads over party lines and policies.
But here’s where Jesus gently calls us to something higher. Romans 12:18 says,
“Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone”.
Romans 12:28 (NLT)
Not “win every debate,” or “convince everyone to see it your way. But do what you can to live in peace. It won’t always be easy, and it’s not all on you. But we’re called to show up with grace, patience, and love.
Politics Has a Way of Stirring Up Emotions
Being a peacemaker doesn’t mean backing down from what you believe. It means holding your convictions with humility, listening with empathy, and remembering that the person across from you matters more than the point you’re trying to prove.
Jesus welcomed people from all walks of life. Fshermen, tax collectors, political opposites, and brought them together in love. Maybe this week, we can follow His lead. Let’s be known for our kindness, not just our opinions. Let’s bring peace into every conversation. Even the hard ones. Especially the hard ones.
