Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me.
John 14:1
Mandy shares her reflections on this verse.
Life has always been hard, ask any human at any point in history, and they’d agree with that statement. It’s also true that Christians and non-Christians alike have been shocked and concerned about the state of the world and how nasty and volatile it is. And scary.
It’s hard not to despair. My non-Christian family members are very worried about the future and how dangerous our societies have become.
Jesus knew how hard and scary the world is. It was dangerous during His lifetime, and it’s dangerous today. But His message has never been obsolete or unnecessary.
Don’t let your heart be troubled. Yes, the world is manic, and it’s getting darker by the day. But who overcame death? Who overcame hatred? Who defeated the grave? Who owns eternity? Who paid our debt to God, that we could never pay? Who bought our salvation?
Jesus. So trust in God’s Word because it never fails. Trust also in Jesus because He owns eternity, and He owns us.
